UCT Faculty Points Score (FPS) Calculator

UCT uses the Faculty Points Score (FPS) — the sum of your six best NSC subject percentages — not the standard 1–7 APS scale. Select your faculty, enter your actual subject percentages, and optionally calculate your Weighted Points Score (WPS) using your disadvantage factor.

Step 1 — Select your faculty group

Science Faculty: If you include Mathematics or Physical Sciences in your six subjects, those percentage scores are counted twice in the FPS calculation (added once to the base, then added again as a bonus). Technical Mathematics and Technical Science may not be substituted.

Step 2 — Enter your 6 best NSC subjects & actual percentages

Do not include Life Orientation — it always scores 0 at UCT. Enter your exact percentage (whole number, 0–100).

Step 3 — NBT scores Health Sciences only

Enter your National Benchmark Test (NBT) percentage scores for each component (0–100).

NBT — Academic Literacy (AL)
NBT — Quantitative Literacy (QL)
NBT — Mathematics (MAT)

Optional — Disadvantage factor (WPS)

For South African citizens/permanent residents, UCT adds a disadvantage factor (0–10%) of the FPS to derive the Weighted Points Score (WPS). Leave blank if not applicable.

Max 10% (standard); max 20% for Health Sciences
