What is an APS Score?

An Admission Point Score (APS) is used by South African universities to assess Grade 12 applicants. It is calculated by converting each subject's percentage into a rating level (1–7) based on the National Senior Certificate (NSC) scale, then summing those levels across your qualifying subjects.

Each university determines its own minimum APS for each faculty or programme. Life Orientation is typically excluded from APS calculations (or counted at half-value at some institutions).
